Three Tips to Achieving Your Goals

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.” Robert Collier
It’s that time again…what time???? Monday of course and I’m going to talk to you about success. We all have different meanings of what success really is but what I know for sure is that you are most successful when you create a plan and stick to it. Today’s motivation is about how success is measured by the sum of small efforts repeated on a consistent basis. I am going to give you three tips to help you create a plan and stick to it.
1. Document your Vision/Goals. Whether you decide to create a vision board, write in a journal or make a video, you need to record your vision and include why it is important to you. “Then the LORD answered me and said, “Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run.” Habakkuk 2:2
Seeing the plan reminds you to stay focused especially when obstacles come into your lives. Make it a habit to look at the vision often.
2. Have a Plan and Stick to It Consistently. “A goal without a plan is just a wish” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Write down the steps you will need to make your goal happen.
I included the picture of all those steps that I took during a hike on Kokohead in Hawaii.
It is a reminder that often to complete your goals, you need to have a plan. I couldn’t just wish my way to the top (although I really wanted to mid-way through the hike). I had to take small steps consistently and with each step I got closer to the top.
How many times have you wanted to complete a goal, but midway you decided it was too hard or make up other excuses. Like this KoKohead hike, it was hard and I too wanted to quit, but I stuck with it and was able to enjoy the view at the top!
3. Reflect. Reflect. Reflect. Are the steps you made for your goals getting you to where you want to be or are your goals still relevant to you? Reflect on your goals at least once a month to make sure you are on the right track to fulfilling your dream. Don’t beat yourself up for not being consistent, commit to always being better than you were yesterday.
At the beginning of the year, I set some amazing goals and the steps to accomplish them. From wanting a deeper relationship with God to trying new things to building real relationships with people beyond Facebook and texting. I have to say April was pretty amazing! I would love to hear what your goals are and the steps you are taking to achieve them.
